Luke 2:7 (KJV) 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

The most amazing miracle in history is the incarnation of God. The miracle baby born in a stable in Bethlehem was the eternal God revealing himself in flesh. Although we know that nothing is impossible with God, it is incomprehensible how an infinite God could limit Himself within the finite form of mortal man.

God is an eternal Spirit infinite in power and glory, purposed before the world began that He would redeem fallen humanity by sacrificing Himself. Since God is an eternal Spirit and cannot die, He planned to robe Himself in flesh that He might fulfill the requirement of sin, which is death. Before the Son of God was conceived in the Virgin Mary, He existed in the mind, plan, and purpose of God.

John 1:1-3 (KJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:14 (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus Christ shed His blood at Calvary as a sinless sacrifice to redeem fallen humanity because He was God manifest in the flesh. Only by being God did He have authority to redeem us from our sins. Jehovah is the only true God and because Jesus Christ was the Almighty in human flesh, His blood is able to cleanse us from our sins.

Acts 20:28 (KJV) 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

If Jesus Christ were not Jehovah of the Old Testament He could not save us because Jehovah alone is our Savior. God declared through the prophet Isaiah:

Isaiah 45:21-22 (KJV) 21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. 22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Mary and Joseph found no rooms in Bethlehem and settled for a stable. The Almighty made His incarnate entrance into the world in the form of Mary’s baby. The Christ-child was born in a stable among the cattle and the sheep. The King of Glory was born.

The sovereign God, the great I Am, robed Himself in the obscurity of common flesh born to a virgin espoused to a lowly carpenter. Mary wrapped the Lord of Glory in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger.
