My Trust is in the Lord
Psalm 11:1 (KJV) In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
At this point in time, David was continuously on the run from King Saul. His friends tried to help and offered David the advice to “flee as a bird to your mountain”. In other words, you don’t have a moment to lose… run for your life!!! David’s response to this advice was simply, “In the Lord put I my trust”.
What a great example for us to follow. No matter the situation or circumstance, our trust should always be in the Lord. An unknown author penned the following poem:
Trust Him when dark doubts assail thee,
Trust Him when thy strength is small;
Trust Him when to trust Him simply
Seems the hardest thing of all.
My Trust is in the Lord.
Trust is common to all people on some basis of life. Everybody – believer and unbeliever – trusts in something or somebody. Some trust in money while others trust in drugs, people or power. The question is not if we trust but rather in whom or in what will we place our trust?
Psalm 20:7 (KJV) 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
My Trust is in the Lord.
Placing your trust is like anchoring a boat. Your anchorage needs to be on something fixed, something unmovable. Tying your boat to a drifting log would be insufficient and wouldn’t get the job done. The Lord is the only perfect and suitable anchor for our soul!!! The Lord is the only permanent, unmovable, and fixed being in the universe. Everything else is temporary and is subject to change by other forces or conditions but the Lord is always the same.
Malachi 3:6 (KJV) 6 For I am the LORD, I change not…
James 1:17 (KJV) 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
You may be face to face with the hardest trial in your life. It may be the diagnosis of cancer, the loss of a loved one, or some other dire situation. My advice is not to flee as a bird to the mountain but my advice is to place your trust in the Lord.
