Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Romans 8:35-39 “35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
If I was to offer you a $100 bill, you would definitely be receptive of the gift. Would your attitude change if I crumpled up the bill? What if I threw it on the ground and stomped it into the floor with my foot? Now the $100 bill is crumpled and dirty. Would you still want the $100 bill? You would undoubtedly still want the $100 bill.
This is a valuable lesson for us all to learn. No matter what I would do to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $100. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value in God’s eyes. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are priceless to Jesus Christ.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Paul’s answer to this question in Romans chapter 8 was in essence NOTHING OR NO BODY!!!
